GC-MS method for the analysis of longitudinally collected breath samples from hospitalized children in the ICU
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Despite the potential of volatolomics for non invasive monitoring, the detection of VAP in children remains a significant clinical challenge. Herein, we present a GC MS method for the analysis of longitudinally collected breath samples from hospitalized children in the ICU. Results from part of the 3 year CASSANDRA project. We applied a rigorous normalization strategy to ensure sample comparability across multiple time points. The final aim of the study is to determine whether specific VOC fingerprints can serve as early indicators of VAP, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes in the pediatric intensive care unit.
