3,4-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde exerts anti-Alzheimer's effects by inhibiting Aβ protofibril assembly and activating antioxidant defense mechanisms

ABSTRACT:

Broad-spectrum metabolomic analyses reveal that DBD markedly modulates the nematode’s metabolic profile. DBD enhances the activation of transcription factors DAF-16/FOXO and SKN-1/Nrf2, increasing resistance to oxidative and thermal stress. These findings suggest that DBD possesses multi-target therapeutic potential against AD, involving inhibition of Aβ aggregation and enhancement of oxidative stress defenses, thereby providing a promising candidate compound and mechanistic framework for AD drug development.
