Untargeted Metabolomics Data of Rectal Contents from Diarrheic and Healthy Saanen Dairy Goats (MS (MTBLS))
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This dataset aims to investigate alterations in intestinal metabolites associated with diarrhea in Saanen dairy goats. A total of 14 goats reared under the same intensive housing conditions were selected, including 7 healthy individuals and 7 diarrheic individuals. Diarrhea was defined based on clinical signs, including wet tail and the presence of pasty fecal residues around the perianal area. Untargeted metabolomics analysis was performed on rectal content samples. The results indicated that organic acids and related metabolites were significantly upregulated in diarrheic goats, suggesting substantial alterations in the intestinal metabolic environment. To further elucidate the interactions between gut microbiota and host metabolism, this study also integrates multi-omics datasets, including: (1) metagenomic sequencing data of rectal contents; (2) 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing data of colonic contents from fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) mice; (3) transcriptomic data from an inflammatory model of goat small intestinal organoids. These multi-omics data provide a comprehensive resource for understanding the microbiota–metabolite interactions and the underlying mechanisms of diarrhea in Saanen dairy goats.
