Comprehensive transcriptome and metabolome analysis revealed the primary molecular regulatory pathways of skin development in Yulin black duck during embryonic stage

ABSTRACT: Skin color is one of the key characteristics the duck possesses which is used to determine the market value because it affects the consumer's purchasing decisions. People tend to prefer ducks with black skin because they are more suitable for making soup. This study was conducted to identify the significantly different metabolites (SDMs) associated with skin development in Yulin black duck and explore their molecular regulatory mechanism. The metabolite level changes in skin across three embryonic stages (E15, E21 and E27) were analyzed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Matched transcriptomic data from the same samples were then integrated through joint multi-omics analysis to screen for genes and metabolites that undergo significant changes in the same biological process.

INSTRUMENT(S): Liquid Chromatography MS - negative - reverse-phase, Liquid Chromatography MS - positive - reverse-phase
