Dataset Information

A paired transcriptomic, metabolomic and fruit-quality data resource from field-grown tomatoes across eight agricultural sites in Ningxia, China

ABSTRACT:

Tomato fruit phenotypes are shaped by genotype, agronomic management and local environment, yet matched molecular and environmental datasets from commercial field settings remain scarce. Here we describe a paired resource comprising fruit transcriptomes, untargeted metabolomes, fruit-quality measurements and plant-matched rhizosphere electrical conductivity (EC) and pH measurements from 32 independently sampled tomato plants distributed across eight agricultural sites in Ningxia, China. The resource contains processed abundance profiles for 1,338 annotated metabolite features; and eight recorded fruit and soil variables. Sample identifiers are shared across all data layers, enabling within-sample multi-omic reuse. We provide site-level metadata, per-plant environmental measurements, quality-control summaries. Because sampling location, cultivar and cultivation conditions were not experimentally randomized, this resource is intended for descriptive, comparative and hypothesis-generating analyses rather than causal inference about salinity responses. The dataset will support studies of tomato fruit biology under heterogeneous field conditions.
