Live Combined Bifidobacterium Attenuates Rivaroxaban-Associated Colonic Bleeding in Mice: Evidence for a Substantial Gut Microbiota-Dependent Component

ABSTRACT: This study investigated fecal metabolic alterations associated with live combined Bifidobacterium (LCB) treatment in a mouse model of rivaroxaban-associated colonic bleeding. Male C57BL/6J mice were included in two experiments comprising normal control, rivaroxaban-treated, rivaroxaban followed by LCB treatment, antibiotic-treated plus rivaroxaban, and antibiotic-treated plus rivaroxaban followed by LCB treatment groups. Four mice per group were randomly selected for untargeted fecal metabolomics analysis. Metabolomic profiling was performed by UHPLC-Q Exactive LC-MS in both positive and negative ion modes. The study aimed to characterize treatment-associated changes in the fecal metabolome and to evaluate their relationship with gut microbiota-dependent effects of LCB.
