Members of this genus are common environmental microorganisms. Also, they can be monitored in the food production chain. Genome sequence of Bacillus sp. strain EE-W1 will provide helpful information to understand its ecology and genetics. Draft genome data may be useful in the field of using Bacillus species in industrial biotechnology. Also, these data can be a useful resource for the study of comparative genomics. DATA DESCRIPTION:Here, we present the draft genome sequence of Bacillus sp. strain EE-W1 isolated from a biogas reactor, Kazan, Russia. Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequences of Bacillus subtilis A1, Sphingobacterium sp. strain A3, and Pseudomonas sp. strain A29; Sphingobacterium sp. A3 and Pseudomonas sp. A29 were identified as Bacillus velezensis strain A3 and Bacillus subtilis strain A29, respectively, after a quality control check of the whole-genome sequences deposited in the NCBI database. These bacteria exhibit tremendous production of siderophores and significant antimicrobial potential. When inoculated on maize, these isolates increase its yield.
Project description:A chromium-reducing bacterium designated as strain KNP was isolated from a sample collected from a tannery effluent of Kanpur, India. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain KNP belonged to the <i>Bacillus</i> genus and showed 100% similarity with <i>Bacillus licheniformis</i>. Furthermore, average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization between strain KNP and its closely related strains confirmed its affiliation with <i>Bacillus licheniformis</i> species<i>.</i> Whole-genome sequencing of <i>Bacillus licheniformis</i> KNP was performed using the Illumina Hiseq platform. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of <i>Bacillus licheniformis</i> KNP. The total size of the draft assembly was 4,280,093?bp, distributed into 21 contigs with an N50 value of 4,186,229. Project description:Analysis of the genome of Bacillus halodurans strain C125 indicated that two pathways leading from a cytosine deoxyribonucleotide to dUMP, used for dTMP synthesis, were encoded by the genome of the bacterium. The genes that were responsible, the comEB gene and the dcdB gene, encoding dCMP deaminase and the bifunctional dCTP deaminase:dUTPase (DCD:DUT), respectively, were both shown to be expressed in B. halodurans, and both genes were subject to repression by the nucleosides thymidine and deoxycytidine. The latter nucleoside presumably exerts its repression after deamination by cytidine deaminase. Both comEB and dcdB were cloned, overexpressed in Escherichia coli, and purified to homogeneity. Both enzymes were active and displayed the expected regulatory properties: activation by dCTP for dCMP deaminase and dTTP inhibition for both enzymes. Structurally, the B. halodurans enzyme resembled the Mycobacterium tuberculosis enzyme the most. An investigation of sequenced genomes from other species of the genus Bacillus revealed that not only the genome of B. halodurans but also the genomes of Bacillus pseudofirmus, Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus hemicellulosilyticus, Bacillus marmarensis, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus megaterium encode both the dCMP deaminase and the DCD:DUT enzymes. In addition, eight dcdB homologs from Bacillus species within the genus for which the whole genome has not yet been sequenced were registered in the NCBI Entrez database.

Project description:Bacillus oleronius strain DSM 9356 isolated from the termite Reticulitermes santonensis was sequenced to gain insights in relation to its closest phylogenetic neighbor Bacillus sporothermodurans. The draft genome of strain DSM 9356 contains 5,083,966 bp with an estimated G + C content of 35%, 4899 protein-coding genes, 116 tRNAs and 18 rRNAs. The RAST annotation assigned these genes into 462 subsystems, with the maximum number of genes associated with amino acids and derivatives metabolism (14.84%), followed by carbohydrates (13.89%) and protein metabolism subsystems (9.10%). The draft genome sequence and annotation has been deposited at NCBI under the accession number MTLA00000000.
