Project description:The subject of the current study was the response of the Drosophila Schneider cells to the developmental hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone. The whole-genome experiments revealed that ecdysone-dependent genes are at high level of readiness to the upcoming transcription. Their promoters in the inactive state are associated with significant amounts of the RNA polymerase II. The induction of transcription by 20-hydroxyecdysone results both in the recruitment of the additional portion of the RNA polymerase II and in the increase in its phosphorylation level. The primary events in the course of the transcriptional activation of the two ecdysone-dependent genes have been investigated to detail.
