Project description:In ant Harpegnathos saltator, workers can become the reproductive gamergates in a queenless condition. During the worker-to-gamergate transition, juvenile hormone signaling decreases but ovarian ecdysone production increases in the gamergate. Injecting juvenile hormone analog (JHA or methoprene) induces expression of worker-biased genes in the brain , while ecydsone promotes expression of ecdysone-responsive genes in ovaries.
Project description:We performed ChIP-seq with a new Kr-h1 antibody in the central brains of in established gamergates (day 120) and age-matched workers
Project description:We used 10x Genomics and Drop-seq single-cell RNA-seq to identify the cell type composition of the Harpegnathos brain and study how it changes during the process of adult caste transition (from worker to pseudo-queen), aging, and brain injury.
