Project description:Micro (mi)RNAs are critical regulators of gene expression in human cells, whose functions can be affected during viral replication. We showed that the Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 (HIV-1) Gag protein interacts with the human miRNA processor Dicer and modifies its retention of specific miRNAs without affecting the enzyme’s pre-miRNA processing activity. This sequencing experiment was performed to elucidate whether the presence of Gag in human cells has an effect on the distribution of miRNAs loaded onto Dicer.

This analysis combined with miRNA profiling in Dicer wild type (WT) and knockout (KO) BMDMs may help to identify the miRNA targets regulated by Dicer deletion.
