Brucellosis is a zoonotic infection caused by bacteria of the genus <i>Brucella</i>. The species, <i>B. abortus</i> and <i>B. melitensis</i>, major causative agents of human brucellosis, share remarkably similar genomes, but they differ in their natural hosts, phenotype, antigenic, immunogenic, proteomic and metabolomic properties.
