Proteome of human scalp hair follicles
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Proteomic analysis of hair follicles aids in basic understanding of human scalp hair biology, and it can serve as a foundation for biomarker identification and targeted therapy in precision medicine. Proteomics of scalp hair follicles in Indian population has not been reported earlier. We have performed the orbitrap mass spectrometry analysis of proteins extracted from plucked scalp hair follicles of non-balding and healthy donors, and identified 2961 unique (non-redundant) proteins. This study provides a well-annotated human hair follicle proteomics repository of Indian scalp hair follicles.
