ABSTRACT: Fewer than 50% of patients develop vascular and valvular calcification, implying differential pathogenesis. Disease stage-specific proteomics (non-diseased/fibrotic/calcified areas) was performed on human carotid endarterectomy specimens and stenotic aortic valves merged per donor as fractions.
