Respiratory Health Outcomes in Neonates (RHiNO) Study Urine Proteomics

ABSTRACT: Urine sampled from preterm-born (<34 weeks gestation) school-aged (7-12yrs) children and term born (>/=37 weeks gestation). Spirometry, exercise testing and cardiovascular assessment performed at time of sampling. Preter-born children with low lung function entered a randomised placebo controlled trial of inhaler therapies.

INSTRUMENT(S): Orbitrap Fusion Lumos

Introduction
Although different phenotypes of lung disease after preterm birth have recently been described, the underlying mechanisms associated with each phenotype are poorly understood. We, therefore, compared the urinary proteome for different spirometry phenotypes in preterm-born children with preterm- and term-born controls.
Methods
Preterm and term-born children aged 7-12 years, from the Respiratory Health Outcomes in Neonates (RHiNO) cohort, underwent spirometry and urine ...[more]
