Reliability of Serum-Derived Connectome Indicators in Identifying Cirrhosis

ABSTRACT: Patients with cirrhosis are at a relatively high risk of developing complications, such as hepatic decompensation and hepatocellular carcinoma. Identifying cirrhosis in patients is essential in clinical practice because of the need to control disease progression and select different treatment strategies. Moreover, early diagnosis of cirrhosis is conducive to preventing the development of severe complications. Liver biopsy is considered the gold standard for determining cirrhosis, but most patients are unwilling to accept the invasive procedure because of the inconvenience and potential risk. We have developed a Connectome strategy that combines metabolites with peptide spectral matching(PSMs) in proteomics to integrate metabolomics and proteomics, identifying specific metabolites bound to blood proteins in cirrhosis using open search proteomics methods.
