Drought priming enhanced drought tolerance of tomato plants by synergistic coordination between physiological, biochemical and genetic responses
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Increasing frequencies and magnitude of droughts events give rise to extensive threats to global crop production and food security. Even though the importance of drought stress priming and memory in plants is increasingly investigated, the details of the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying the drought stress memory especially in tomato plants remain unclear. Our aim was to correlate physiological, biochemical, and transcriptional responses in tomato plants to multiple drought stress and identify potential candidates for key genes mediating drought memory.
