Intestinal epithelial barrier integrity is essential for human health, and its disruption induces and exacerbates intestinal inflammatory disorders. While the epithelial cytoskeleton is critical for maintaining gut barrier-integrity, the role of septins - a family of GTP-binding, cytoskeletal proteins - is largely unknown.
