Identification of BIK1-targeted phosphorylation sites on NLRs


ABSTRACT: BIK1 is a central regulator of signaling downstream of the activation of patter recognition receptors and may represent a functional link between pattern- and effector- triggered immunity in plants. Among myriad BIK1 substrates are several intracellular immune receptors. This project aims to map BIK1-targeted phosphorylation sites on two such receptors.

Plant cell surface pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) perceive non- or altered-self elicitors to induce immune responses. PRRs relay information across the plasma membrane and trigger downstream signalling via receptor-like cytoplasmic kinases such as BOTRYTIS-INDUCED KINASE 1 (BIK1).
