Differential proteomics of peripheral blood CD14+ monocytes in the luminal breast carcinoma subtypes: A primary study

ABSTRACT: We performed differential proteomic analysis of CD14+ monocytes from peripheral blood of BC-confirmed patients, benign individuals vs. HCs. Results revealed DEPs found across all studied cohorts such as SRSF1, CSTB, KRT2, KRT5, HEL-S-11, APOB, APOE, and ITGA2B. Herein, APOB, HEL-S-11, KRT5, and SRS1 had AUC ≥ 0.6, and are assumed as feasible classifiers of random individuals. Comparison of benign vs. HCs revealed KRT2 and KRT5, found as DAPs common for all tested groups. ENO1 found in LumA, KRT1 in LumB-HER2-, and AIDB in LumB-HER2+, were interesting BC-related DEPs analysed among top 10 hits. The GSEA analysis of LumA vs. HCs revealed enrichment of Ca2+ GNRH and LTM signalling pathways. The Ribosome and Lysosome signalling pathways were further found enriched in LumB-HER2- vs. HCs comparison and the  MYC Targets V2 pathway found enriched in LumB-HER2+.
