Galactokinase 1 acts as a protein kinase for TIMM13, regulating mitochondrial respiration
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Emerging evidence demonstrates that some monosaccharide kinases (HK2 for glucose and KHK-A for fructose) act as protein kinases to regulate cell signaling pathways and gene expressions. GALK1 is a metabolic kinase for the third monosaccharide galactose. We here checked the possibility that GALK1 plays as a protein kinase to regulate cellular functions beyond galactose metabolism.
