SWATH-MS-Based landscape of serum proteins in acute respiratory syndrome
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with a substantial burden of morbidity and mortality. Prior studies have identified reproducible hyperinflammatory and hypoinflammatory ARDS subphenotypes with distinct clinical outcomes and treatment responses. Although recent transcriptomic studies have provided insights into biological differences between these subphenotypes, the role of the circulating proteome remains incompletely understood. In this project, comprehensive protein expressions in serum samples from healthy control (5), Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP, 4) as a negative control, and patients with ARDS (31) were determined by SMAWA-MS method. Using the landscape of proteomics data, promising pathways/molecules to determine ARDS subphenotypes would be identified and be available for effective biomarkers for predicting ARDS with the subphenotypes.
