A comprehensive proteogenomic landscape of microproteins in Trichomonas vaginalis
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Microproteins encoded by small open reading frames (sORFs) have emerged as an important class of functional proteins, but their roles in protozoan parasites remain largely unexplored. This study employed a proteogenomic strategy integrating customized protein databases with LC-MS/MS to identify translated microproteins in Trichomonas vaginalis. Mass spectrometry data were searched against a customized database containing annotated proteins and predicted sORF-encoded microproteins to experimentally validate translated microproteins identified through transcriptomic analyses. This dataset supports the proteogenomic analyses presented in the associated manuscript.
