Cocoon LC-MS/MS-Silkworm cultivation predating the Silk Road in southern Central Asia (2000 BCE)

ABSTRACT: We conducted proteomics analyses on three cocoons recovered from the Sapalli Tepe (approximately 2000 to 1500 BCE) site in Uzbekistan. This dataset contains LC-MS/MS data associated with the analysis of cocoons including Sapalli-C-1 (S1), Sapalli-C-2 (S2), Sapalli-C-3 (S3), Bombyx mori (S4), and Bombyx mandarina (S5). The dataset includes 5 original LC-MS/MS RAW files, 20 original peptide-level mass spectrometry output files used for peptides analysis. These source data support the results presented in Figure 3 and Table S4 in the manuscript. We identified three cocoons as Bombyx mori, directly dated to 1940 to 1765 cal. BCE, representing the earliest remains of Bombyx cocoons.
