WT and SPEF1A/B-KO Cilia Proteome from Tetrahymena thermophila

ABSTRACT: Cilia are critical organelles that extend from the cell surface, built around a microtubule framework known as the axoneme. In most cilia, the tip possesses a unique structure compared to the main shaft. Using mass spectrometry on Tetrahymena thermophila lacking the ciliary tip protein SPEF1, we identified key proteins impacted by its loss. These findings offer novel insights into how SPEF1 contributes to ciliary assembly and ciliogenesis.
