Dysbiosis of gut microbiome in patients with bipolar disorder


ABSTRACT: The gut microbes play a key role in the brain–gut–microbiota axis, and have great influence on the host response of stress, anxiety, depression, and cognitive function.This study aims to investigate how the gut microbiome change based on 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequencing, as well as the immunological indexes, around treatment in patients with bipolar disorder. We attempt to find the biomarkers of bipolar disorder, and explore new therapy.
