Effect of Processing and Microbial Inoculation on the Peptidomics of Goat Cheeses

Project description:The aim of these peptidomic study was to identify and characterize the peptides released after the in vitro digestion of goat cheeses, allowing the comparison of the effects of heat treatment (Raw versus Pasteurized) and the inoculation of Limosilactobacillus mucosae CNPC007 during their production. Mass spectrometry analysis provided precise mapping of the peptide sequences generated, including their size, composition, and structural properties. These data enabled the association of peptide profiles with potential biofunctional activities, positioning goat cheese as a promising functional matrix for the development of value added foods.

Isolation and Identification of Mammary Epithelial Cells from Goat Milk

Project description:Mammary epithelial cells (MECs) have strong secretory function, which is an important target cell for studying mammary gland bioreactor. It is also a unique cell with lactation function in mammary gland. It can be used to study cell biological characteristics and molecular biological mechanism in the process of mammary gland growth, development and lactation. At present, mammary epithelial cells are obtained from mammary tissue, and the extraction of tissue block involves surgical anesthesia, which may lead to breast tissue injury and infection. This study aimed to describe the process of isolating and culturing goat mammary epithelial cells (GMECs) from goat milk, and to identify the biological characteristics of GMECs. Our study laid a foundation for the study of the regulation mechanism of mammary gland development and lactation, the improvement of milk quality, the increase of milk production and the establishment of mammary gland bioreactor.

Genetic characterization of Slovenian indigenous goat breed Dreznica goat

Project description:Local breeds retained unique genetic variability important for adaptive potential especially in light of challenges related to climate change. Our objective was to perform, for the first time, a genome-wide diversity characterization using Illumina GoatSNP50 BeadChip of autochthonous Drežnica goat breed from Slovenia. Genetic diversity analyses revealed that the Slovenian Drežnica goat has a distinct genetic identity and is closely related to the neighboring Austrian and Italian alpine breeds. These results expand our knowledge on phylogeny of goat breeds from easternmost part of the European Alps.

RNA-Seq data from dairy goat milk somatic cells in response to fish oil diet induced milk fat depression

Project description:Dietary supplementation with fish-oil modulates ruminant milk composition towards a healthier fatty acid profile for consumers, but it also causes milk fat depression (MFD). Because the dairy goat industry is mainly oriented towards cheese manufacturing, MFD can elicit economic losses. There is large individual variation in animal susceptibility with goats more (RESPO+) or less (RESPO−) responsive to diet-induced MFD. Thus, we used RNA-Seq to examine gene expression profiles in mammary cells to elucidate mechanisms underlying MFD in goats and individual variation in the extent of diet-induced MFD.
