Project description:Multiple novel simian adenoviruses have been isolated over the past years and their potential to cross the species barrier and infect the human population is an ever present threat. Here we describe the isolation and full genome sequencing of a novel simian adenovirus (SAdV) isolated from the urine of two independent, never co-housed, late stage simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-infected rhesus macaques. The viral genome sequences revealed a novel type with a unique genome length, GC content, E3 region and DNA polymerase amino acid sequence that is sufficiently distinct from all currently known human- or simian adenovirus species to warrant classifying these isolates as a novel species of simian adenovirus. This new species, termed Simian mastadenovirus D (SAdV-D), displays the standard genome organization for the genus Mastadenovirus containing only one copy of the fiber gene which sets it apart from the old world monkey adenovirus species HAdV-G, SAdV-B and SAdV-C.
Project description:A novel virus of the species human adenovirus D, HAdV-67 (P-New/H9/F25), was first isolated from diarrheal feces of six children in Dhaka City, Bangladesh. The genome of this novel virus may be composed of multiple recombinations among HAdV-9, HAdV-25, HAdV-26, HAdV-33, HAdV-46, and an unknown human adenovirus D which was an origin of HAdV-67.

In addition, novel splicing sites were identified Total RNA obtained from four time stages of human primary lung fibroblast cells IMR-90 infected by adenovirus type 2 compared to the control mock-infected by adenovirus type 2.
Project description:We used the Virochip microarray to detect and discover a novel adenovirus, TMAdV (titi monkey adenovirus). We used custom-commercial microarrays from Agilent Technologies. The microarray platform GPL11662 consists of 62,976 probes, of which 19,058 probes are 70-mer viral oligonucleotides (the union of the V3 and V4 platforms -- please see Wang, et al., PNAS, 2002; Chiu, et al., Clin Infect Dis, 2006; Chiu, et al., PNAS, 2008).

Project description:Pathological examination of a suckling male lamb showed severe viral pneumonia with suspected bacterial superinfection. Adenovirus was detected by immunohistochemical examination of the affected lung samples. Detection of the suspected adenovirus by PCR and subsequent isolation of the virus were successful. Using next-generation sequencing, the full genome of this ovine adenovirus was sequenced and analysed. A genome sequence comparison showed that it was a novel mastadenovirus type (named "ovine adenovirus 8") that did not belong to any of the established adenovirus species. The genome is 36,206 bp long, containing 93-bp inverted terminal repeats and 29 predicted genes, including the two genus-specific genes (encoding proteins V and IX). Ovine adenovirus 8 shows the closest relationship to ovine adenovirus 6. These two viruses seem to merit the establishment of a novel ovine mastadenovirus species for them, for which we proposed the name "Ovine mastadenovirus C".
