Project description:Acute kidney injury (AKI) is linked to gut microbiota dysbiosis and reduced butyrate levels. However, oral butyrate administration has limitations. This study explores a strategy for the targeted colonization of Clostridium butyricum (C. butyricum) spores in the colon, aiming to promote local butyrate production for AKI therapy and elucidate its renoprotective mechanism.
Project description:Transcriptomic comparison by total RNAseq of wild-type Clostridium butyricum CB1002 strain vs isogenic Δhbd mutant, grown in vitro in rich medium and isolated during exponential phase, to complement data obtained in animal model experiments.
Project description:Analysis of proteins from botulinum neurotoxin-producing Clostridium butyricum strains grown upon exposure to air. This strain usually lives in anaerobic environments, but we found that it is able to keep growing and producing toxin in vitro upon exposure to air. This project analyzes the proteins differentially expressed both in anaerobic and aerobic conditions.
