Project description:Samul-tang (SM) is a traditional multi-ingredient treatment widely used in clinical practice for improving ovarian function in women with diminished ovarian reserve. Despite its therapeutic benefits, the complexity of its mechanisms of action due to the combination of multiple compounds has limited its research integration into modern pharmacological science. To address this challenge, we identified 39 herbal compounds as major ingredients in SM and generated transcriptome data from the mice ovaries after administrating with individual ingredients. This dataset aims to provide insights into the mechanisms of action of SM and to aid in the identification of effective ingredient combinations.

Despite its therapeutic benefits, the complexity of its mechanisms of action due to the combination of multiple compounds has limited its research integration into modern pharmacological science. To address this challenge, we identified 28 herbal compounds as major ingredients in SM and generated transcriptome data from the mice ovaries after administrating with individual ingredients. This dataset aims to provide insights into the mechanisms of action of SM and to aid in the identification of effective ingredient combinations.

Transcriptome profiling of ovaries in aged mice administered with Samul-tang

Project description:Samul-tang (SM), a traditional herbal medicine is used to treat menstrual irregularities and infertility. The mechanism underlying the role of SM in ovary function needs elucidation. In this study, the influence of SM administration on the ovarian reserve of aged mice was investigated. Female BALB/c mice (8 and 40 weeks-old) were administered with distilled water (young or old group) or SM for 4 weeks. SM administration prevented age-related ovarian follicle loss in mice. Quality of oocytes and blastocysts were enhanced in SM-administrated mice compared to those of non-treated old mice. Further, SM administration increased the pregnancy rate and number of litters. SM triggered changes in aging-related genes that are linked to the RAS-mediated pathway. Thus, we demonstrate that SM can be used to increase the oocyte yield in aged women, potentially improving age-related cognitive decline in the ovarian reserve.

Immunomodulatory mechanisms of Bojungikki-tang through systematic transcriptomic analysis_RPMI8226

Project description:This study aimed to identify the modes of action (MOA) of water extract of Bojungikki-tang (BJIKT) and major four ingredients in immune cell lines. The four main ingredients were designated as Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, Astragalus mongholicus Bunge, Atractylodes japonica Koidzumi, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisher, which are the main active herbs of BJIKT. The immune-related cell lines used for transcriptome production are Jurkat (CD4+ T cells), RPMI8226 (B cells), NK-92MI (NK cells), M1MO (macrophages, differentiated from THP-1), and Mature DC (dendritic cells, differentiated from THP-1), respectively. This dataset contains transcriptome expression information for the RPMI8226 cell line.
