Project description:Human-specific faculties of neural development at the postnatal stage are largely unknown, as evolutionary comparisons have either relied on adult material, immature cell culture proxies, or comparisons with more distant species. To address this, we performed snRNAseq (10x Genomics) on rare human, chimpanzee, and rhesus macaque prefrontal cortex (PFC) infant samples. This study represents the first to include infant chimpanzee samples in such evolutionary comparisons, providing novel insight into human-specific neural development and its susceptibility to neural disease.
