Sexual dimorphisms in zonal gene expression in mouse liver


ABSTRACT: Zone 1 and zone 3 areas were captured from mouse liver sections by laser capture microdissection Total RNA was isolated and gene expression profiles were determined using microarrays Six C3H/HeNCrlBR (C3H) mice, 3 male and 3 female mice were used. They were not treated in any way.

Many of the metabolic functions of the liver are localized either in the pericentral region (zone 3) or in the periportal region (zone 1). However, a systematic analysis of the heterogeneity and sexual dimorphism of gene expression in the liver is lacking.
