Deoxyribozymes (DNAzymes) are in vitro evolved DNA sequences capable of catalyzing chemical reactions. The RNA-cleaving 10-23 DNAzyme was the first DNAzyme to be evolved and possesses clinical and biotechnical applications as a biosensor and a knockdown agent.
