Fowl typhoid is a septicemic disease caused by <i>Salmonella enterica</i> subsp. <i>enterica</i> serovar Gallinarum biovar Gallinarum. It is a host-specific disease primarily affecting chickens and turkeys, although it has been reported in various animal species and sporadically in humans.
