ABSTRACT: Introduction
Early research on the pharmacotherapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) has largely focused on symptomatic improvements, whereas this focus has shifted to functioning and quality of life in recent years. Studies have confirmed that antidepressants generally improve the functional outcomes in MDD, but very few works have compared the efficacies of specific drugs. The present work aims to compare the impacts of trazodone once-a-day extended-release (XR) vs selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on the health status and quality of life in MDD.Methods
