Premenstrual Disorders and Quality of Life in Sweden.

ABSTRACT:

Importance

Premenstrual disorders (PMDs), including premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), are associated with significant physical and psychological burdens. However, their associations with quality of life (QOL) remain insufficiently studied, particularly with limited consideration of comorbidities and potential confounders.

Objective

To assess the QOL among women with PMDs compared with women without PMDs in Sweden.

Design, setting, and participants

This cross-sectional study included participants from the LifeGene cohort, a population-based longitudinal study with linkage to national health care registers. Participants were women aged 15 to 60 years. Data were collected from October 2009 to May 2018 and analyzed from June 2024 to J
