Poly[[μ(10)-2,3-bis(carboxymethyl)butanedioato]disodium].

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Na(2)(C(8)H(8)O(8))](n), contains one Na(+) ion and half of a 2,3-bis(carboxymethyl)butanedioate (H(2)BTC(2-)) dianion, which lies on a center of symmetry. The dianion exhibits a μ(10)-bridging mode. Each Na atom lies in a NaO(6) octa-hedron defined by six O atoms from five dianions. Adjacent NaO(6) octa-hedra share a common O-O edge, generating a biocta-hedron; adjacent biocta-hedra are O-O edge-connected to one another, building up a chain along [001]. The chains are connected by adjacent H(2)BTC(2-) anions into a three-dimensional framework. The structure is further stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound {systematic name: poly[[μ(7)-(2R)-2-amino-3-sulfonato-propano-ato]disodium]}, [Na(2)(C(3)H(5)NO(5)S)](n), was obtained through solvent-thermal reaction of l-cysteic acid and aqueous sodium hydroxide. The monomer consists of two Na(+) cations that are coordinated to the deprotonated amino acid. The latter acts as donor utilizing all available coordination sites, viz. the amino, the carboxyl-ate and the sulfonate residues, so producing a monomeric framework in which the two coordinated Na(+) ions have different coordination spheres and geometries. One of the Na(+) ions has an O(5) coordination sphere with a typical geometric arrangement, inter-mediate between trigonal-bipyramidal and square-pyramidal; all the O atoms from the amino acid (three from the sulfonate and two from the caboxylate residues) act as donors. The second Na(+) ion is tetracoordinated within an NO(3) coordination sphere. The Na(+) ion binds to the amino N atom, to one of the O atom of the carb-oxy-lic residue and to two O atoms of the sulfonate group in a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement. As the sulfonate O atoms bind to both Na(+) ions, a three-dimensional polymeric framework is obtained.

Project description:The title compound, {Na(2)[Mg(2)(C(2)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(2)]}(n), is isotypic with its Co analogue. There are two crystallographically independent oxalate groups in the asymmetric unit, one lying on an inversion center and the other on a general position. Mg(2+) ions are ligated by H(2)O mol-ecules and bridged by tri- and tetra-dentate oxalate ligands, forming ladder-like double chains that are held together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, with Na(+) cations located between the chains to balance the charge.

There are two symmetry-independent Mn(II) centres with different coordination environments: one Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms from four ligands and two N atoms from two ligands, the other Mn(II) atom is coordinated by three O atoms from two ligands, two water O atoms and the O atom of an ethanol mol-ecule. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The 2-[2-(carboxymethyl)phenyl]acetate anions are stabilized by intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and the K(+) cations are linked into one-dimensional coordination polymers running along the b axis; these are further inter-connected by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, {[Cd(2)(C(8)H(4)O(5))(2)(C(14)H(8)N(4))(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), has a layered structure. The asymmetric unit contains two Cd(II) ions, two pyrazino-[2,3-f][1,10]phenanthroline, two 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate (hip) ligands and two lattice water mol-ecules. Each Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from a chelating pyrazino-[2,3-f][1,10]phenanthroline and four O atoms from three different hip ligands, resulting in a distorted CdN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination environment. The hip ligand connects adjacent Cd(II) ions, forming forming layers parallel to (010). Intralayer O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the hydroxy groups and solvent water molecules consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The title polymeric compound {(C(3)H(12)N(2))[Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·3H(2)O}(n) or {(pnH(2))[Cu(py-2,3-dc)(2)]·3H(2)O}(n) (pn is propane-1,3-diamine and py-2,3-dcH(2) is pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by reaction of copper(II) chloride dihydrate with a proton-transfer compound, propane-1,3-diammonium pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate or (pnH(2))(py-2,3-dc), in aqueous solution. The anion is a six-coordinate complex (site symmetry ), with a distorted octa-hedral geometry around Cu(II), consisting of two bidentate pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate groups and two O atoms of bridging ligands from (py-2,3-dc)(2-) fragments, which are located in trans positions. The (pnH(2))(2+) cation is disordered over two sites by the center of inversion. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, π-π [centroid-centroid distances of 3.539 (3) Å] and C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions [O⋯Cg = 3.240 (5) Å; Cg is the center of the pyridine ring], connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd2Na2(N3)2(C44H28N4)2(C12H24O6)2], consists of one half of the dimeric complex; the tetra-nuclear mol-ecule lies about an inversion centre. The Cd(II) atom is coordinated by the four pyrrole N atoms of the 5,10,15,20-tetra-phenyl-porphyrinate ligand and one N atom of the axial azide ligand in a square-pyramidal geometry. The azide group is also linked to the Na(I) atom, which is surrounded by one 18-crown-6 molecule and additionally bonded to a second 18-crown-6 molecule trans to the azide group. The porphyrin core exhibits a major doming distortion (∼40%) and the crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯π inter-actions. The mol-ecular structure features weak intra-molecular hydrogen bonds: two O-H⋯O inter-actions within the 18-crown-6 mol-ecule and one C-H(18-crown-6)⋯N(azido) contact.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(8)O(5))(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by the reaction of 7-oxabicyclo-[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride, cadmium acetate and imidazole. The Cd(II) atom is seven-coordinated in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal configuration by five O atoms from carboxyl-ate groups of three 7-oxabicyclo-[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylate ligands and two N atoms from two imidazole ligands. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The Na(+) cation in the title compound, [Na(C(3)H(7)O(3))](n) or Na[H(2)gl], is coordinated by five O atoms leading to a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The negatively charged O atom of the glycerolate anion is in an equatorial position, and the O atom of the hydroxo group, attached to the secondary C atom, occupies an axial position completing a five-membered non-planar chelate ring; this defines the asymmetric unit. The Na(+) cation is coordinated by three other symmetry-related monodentate H(2)gl(-) ligands, so that each H(2)gl(-) ligand is bonded to four Na(+) ions. The H(2)gl(-) ligands are connected via strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and these, together with the Na⋯O inter-connections, are responsible for the formation of polymeric sheets which propagate in the directions of the b and c axes.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[Fe(2)(C(4)H(2)N(2)S(2))(4)]·2CH(4)O, the [Fe(III)(pdt)(2)](-) anion (pdt is pyrazine-2,3-dithiol-ate) forms a centrosymmetric dimer supported by two Fe(III)-S bonds [Fe-S = 2.4787 (4) Å]. In the crystal structure, dimers form a one-dimensional stack along the b axis via π-π stacking inter-actions, the inter-planar separation between adjacent dimers being 3.51 (2) Å. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is involved in two hydrogen bonds in which the hydroxyl group acts as a hydrogen-bond donor to the N atom of a pdt ligand and the O atom acts as an acceptor for the NH group of the triethyl-ammonium cation.
