Antibiotic resistance development has been linked to the bacterial SOS stress response. In Escherichia coli, fluoroquinolones are known to induce SOS, whereas other antibiotics, such as aminoglycosides, tetracycline, and chloramphenicol, do not. Here we address whether various antibiotics induce SOS in Vibrio cholerae.
