The king of rivers or mahseer comprises three genera: <i>Tor</i>, <i>Neolissochilus,</i> and <i>Naziritor,</i> under the Cyprinidae family. The <i>Tor</i> genus has been classified as the true mahseer due to the presence of a median lobe among the three genera.
