(1) Background: The <i>ERVPb1</i> gene in humans is derived from an envelope (<i>Env</i>) gene of a human endogenous retrovirus group, HERV-P(b). The <i>ERVPb1</i> gene reportedly has a conserved open reading frame (ORF) in Old World monkeys.
