<i>Photobacterium damselae</i> subsp. <i>damselae</i> is a family of <i>Vibrionaceae</i> and exists in the marine environment. The organism rarely causes soft-tissue infection in humans; moreover, most of the infected individuals have a history of fishing or exposure to brackish water.
