The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Angelica laevigata Fisch.

ABSTRACT: Angelica laevigata (Fisch 1812) is an important medicinal plant endowed with a rich chemical composition. In the present study, we present the complete chloroplast genome sequence of A. laevigata. The total length was 146,161 bp, comprising a large single-copy region of 93,538 bp and a small single-copy region of 17,779 bp separated by two inverted repeats of 17,422 bp each. A total of 128 genes were identified containing 87 protein-coding genes, 33 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis suggests that A. laevigata is closely associated with Angelica laxifoliata from the Umbelliferae family.

Project description:The complete chloroplast genome of Rosa laevigata has been characterized by reference-based assembly using Illumina paired-end data. The complete cp genome is 156,342 bp in length, containing a large single-copy region of 85,459 bp, a small single-copy region of 18,785 bp, which are separated by a pair of inverted repeat regions of 26,049 bp, a total of 140 genes were predicted from the cp genome, including 87 protein-coding genes, 39 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes . Most genes occur as a single copy, while 19 gene species are duplicated. Phylogenetic analysis reveals that R. laevigata and Rosa roxburghii f. normalis are more closely related to each other than either is to Rosa banksiae var. normalis.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Angelica Tsinlingensis (Apioideae).

Project description:Angelica tsinlingensis is endemic in Shaanxi province (China), and is used as Angelica sinensis in folk. Owing to important medicinal value, wild A. sinensis has been over-exploited and become quite rare in China during over 2000 years. Angelica sensu lato (s.l.; Apiaceae subfamily Apioideae) is a taxonomically complex and controversial group, and A. tsinlingensis is clearly different from members of the Angelica s.s. clade with the morphological and molecular results. The complete chloroplast DNA sequence of A. tsinlingensis (GenBank accession number: MF924726) was determined in our study. The size of chloroplast genome of A. tsinlingensis is 147,104 bp, including a large single-copy (LSC) region of 93376 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 17,574 bp separated by a pair of identical inverted repeat regions (IRs) of 18,077 bp each. A total of 125 genes were successfully annotated containing 83 protein-coding genes, 34 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes. GC content of IRs region is the highest (44.5%). The result of Phylogenomic analysis supports the difference of A. tsinlingensis from Angelica s.s. clade.

Project description:The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Angelica gigas, a traditional herbal plant used in treating diseases, was obtained by de novo assembly using illumina sequencing data (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA). The circular molecule of the genome was constructed of four parts, with a size of 146,916 bp in total - a large single copy (LSC) region of 93,118 bp, a small single copy (SSC) region of 17,582 bp and two inverted repeat (IRa and IRb) regions of 18,108 bp each. There were a total of 113 annotated genes, including 80 protein-coding genes, 29 tRNA genes and four rRNA genes. The phylogenetic result acquired through maximum parsimony analysis showed that A. gigas is closely related with A. decursiva and Seseli montanum.

Complete chloroplast genome of Sanguisorba × tenuifolia Fisch. ex Link.

Project description:Sanguisorba × tenuifolia Fisch. ex Link is an important herbal medicine. To facilitate species identification, we sequenced its complete chloroplast genome using the Illumina MiSeq platform. The data show that the chloroplast genome of S. × tenuifolia is 155,403 bp in size, comprising an 85,525 bp large single-copy (LSC) region, a 18,726 bp small single-copy (SSC) region, and two inverted repeats (IR) regions, IRa and IRb (each 25,576 bp). The genome contains 112 unique genes, including 79 protein-coding genes, four ribosomal RNAs genes, and 30 transfer RNAs genes. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that S. × tenuifolia is most closely related to Hagenia abyssinica.

The complete chloroplast genome of Agropyron desertorum (Fisch. ex Link) Schult.

Project description:Agropyron desertorum is one of the most important fodder grasses which distributes in the temperate regions of the world. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of A. desertorum was sequenced. The genome was 135,459 bp in length, with a large single-copy region of 79,617 bp, a small single-copy region of 12,760 bp, and two inverted repeat regions of 21,541 bp. The genome consisted of 132 genes, including 86 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The GC contents was 38.32%. We constructed the Maximum likelihood (ML) tree with 13 species from the Hordeinae genus, and concluded that A. desertorum was closely related to plant species of the Elymus genus in the phylogenetic tree.

Complete chloroplast genome of Angelica hirsutiflora Liu et al. 1961 (Apiaceae).

Project description:Angelica hirsutiflora Liu et al.1961, is a perennial herb in the Apiaceae family that is endemic to Taiwan. In this study, the complete circular chloroplast genome of A. hirsutiflora was reconstructed and annotated using Illumina sequencing. The size of the chloroplast genome is 154,266 bp, consisting of two inverted repeats (IRs, 25,075 bp) separated by a large single-copy region (LSC, 86,569 bp) and a small single-copy region (SSC, 17,547 bp). The GC content of the chloroplast genome is 37.6%. There are 114 different genes in the chloroplast genome of A. hirsutiflora, including 80 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes and four rRNA genes. A maximum-likelihood phylogenetic analysis showed that A. hirsutiflora forms a distinct clade, and separated from other species within the genus Angelica. This study provided insights into the evolutionary relationships among different species of Angelica.

Project description:Angelica decursiva (Miquel) Franchet & Savatier (Apiaceae) has been used as a significant medicinal plant in East Asia. We determined its complete chloroplast genome for the first time in this study. The complete chloroplast was circularized and had a typical quadripartite structure genome of 146 719 bp long including the large single copy region (LSC) of 93 256 bp, the small single copy region (SSC) of 17 497 bp and duplicated inverted regions (IRs) of 17 983 bp each. The total GC content was 37.56% and for the four structures it was 35.98% (LSC), 31.06% (SSC), and 44.83% (for each IR). There were a total of 113 genes, comprising four rRNAs, 29 tRNAs and 80 protein coding genes. In the phylogenetic analysis, A. decursiva was grouped with Seseli montanum. This study may contribute to authenticating the plant's correct use as medicine for health and provide an important genetic resource for phylogeny with related species.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Lemna turionifera (Araceae).

Project description:Lemna turionifera is native to North America and northern Asia, with significant potential for industrial wastewater remediation. The complete nucleotide sequence of the L. turionifera chloroplast genome (cpDNA) was determined. The cpDNA is a circular molecule of 166,606 bp and containing a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) measuting 31,663 bp each. These IRs are flanked by a small single-copy region of 13,542 bp and a large single-copy region of 89,738 bp. The chloroplast genome of L. turionifera consisted of 112 unique genes, including 78 protein-encoding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis utilizing cpDNA provided a well-supported resolution of the relationships among subfamilies within the Araceae family. Our findings indicated a close relationship between L. turionifera and a clade consisting of L. minor, L. japonica, and L. gibba. The availability of the complete chloroplast genome sequence of L. turionifera presents valuable data for future phylogenetic investigations within the Lemnaceae family.
