Transfer RNA<sup>[Ser]Sec</sup> carries multiple post-transcriptional modifications. The A37G mutation in tRNA<sup>[Ser]Sec</sup> abrogates isopentenylation of base 37 and has a profound effect on selenoprotein expression in mice.
