Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common T-helper 2 (Th2) lymphocyte-mediated chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by disturbed epidermal differentiation (e.g., <i>filaggrin</i> (<i>FLG</i>) expression) and diminished skin barrier function.
