Targeting glutamylated microtubules protects inter-cardiomyocyte coupling against ischemia/reperfusion injury

ABSTRACT: Purpose: The glutamylation of MT is regulated by the activities of TTLLs (glutamylases) and CCPs (deglutamylase), enzymes responsible for the addition or removal of glutamate residues on the C-terminal tails of tubulin, respectively. Given the presence of multiple TTLLs and CCPs in mammals, we performed RNA sequencing on mouse hearts to assess the abundance of their expression. Methods: Heart tissue of C57BL/6J mice at day 9 after birth were collected for RNA sequencing. Results: We found that the expression levels of TTLLs (glutamylases) and CCPs (deglutamylase) in mouse heart tissue. Conclusions: TTLL4 and CCP5 are enzymes involved in post-translational modification of microtubule glutamination in cardiomyocytes.
