Single-Cell Profiling of Peripheral Immune Remodeling in BK Polyomavirus-Associated Nephropathy After Kidney Transplantation
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This study investigates peripheral immune responses associated with BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) infection in kidney transplant recipients using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were collected from six recipients classified into three clinical states: stable graft function, BKPyV DNAemia, and biopsy-proven BKPyV-associated nephropathy (BKPyVAN). The primary goal was to characterize transcriptomic profiles of circulating immune cells across these clinical states and to identify candidate peripheral transcriptional signatures.
