RNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis of blood from patients with cortical cataract
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This dataset contains raw and processed transcriptomic data derived from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of patients with age-related cataract (ARC) and matched healthy control individuals. The study aimed to identify systemic gene expression signatures associated with ARC pathogenesis. A total of 6 participants were enrolled in this study, including 3 ARC patients and 3 age- and gender-matched healthy controls.Total RNA was extracted, and library construction was performed using the Illumina TruSeq Stranded mRNA LT Sample Prep Kit. Sequencing was carried out on the Illumina NovaSeq 6000]platform with a 150-bppaired-end strategy. Preliminary bioinformatic analysis revealed 311 increased DEGs and 268 decreased DEGs between ARC patients and refractive cataract patients (|log2FC| > 2and adjusted p-value < 0.05. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses of these DEGs highlighted significant alterations in several biological processes and pathways. This dataset provides a resource for understanding the potential role of systemic factors and immune responses in ARC development, and may facilitate the discovery of novel biomarkers for this common ocular disease.
