Identification of a set of transcriptional regulators involved in the temporal regulation of neuron subtype differentiation


ABSTRACT: The sequential generation of various types of neurons and glia from neural stem /progenitor cells (NSPCs) during development is a major part to build complex central nervous system. COUP-TFI/II (NR2F1/2) are critical factors for the temporal specification of NSPCs including neurogenesis-to-gliogenesis switch. MicroRNA miR-17 has also been shown to regulate acquisition of gliogenic competence by NSPCs downstream of COUP-TFs. We tried to identify candidate genes that are involved in the temporal change of the potency of NSPCs for the sequential generation of different neuron subtypes but not acquisition of gliogenic competence downstream of COUP-TFs.
