Jasmonic acid restricts cadmium uptake by activating phenylpropanoid-mediated apoplastic barrier formation in rice roots
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Cadmium accumulation in rice threatens crop productivity and food safety. This RNA-seq study examined how exogenous jasmonic acid affects the response of Zhonghua 11 (ZH11) rice roots to cadmium stress. Transcriptome sequencing of untreated control, cadmium-treated, and cadmium plus jasmonic acid-treated roots was used to identify pathways associated with reduced cadmium uptake. The results highlighted phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, lignification, and root apoplastic barrier formation as important components of the jasmonic acid response under cadmium stress.
