Gene expression microarray analysis on hippocampus of Schnurri-2 knockout and wild-type control mice

ABSTRACT: Schnurri-2 (Shn-2), an NF-kappa B site-binding protein, tightly binds to the enhancers of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I genes and inflammatory cytokines, which have been shown to harbor common variant single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with schizophrenia. Shn-2 knockout mice show behavioral abnormalities that strongly resemble those of schizophrenics. We performed gene expression microarray analysis of hippocampi from Shn-2 knockout and wild-type control mice.

Project description:Zinc finger protein ZBTB20 plays a critical role in mouse hippocampal development by orchestrating gene expression profile of hippocampal neurons. We used microarrays to investigate the target gene of ZBTB20 in mouse hippocampal development. Mouse hippocampi were harvested at postnatal day 2 for RNA extraction and hybridization on Affymetrix microarrays. We sought to identify the target genes of transcription factor ZBTB20 in hippocampal development. To that end, we isolated the hippocampi from ZBTB20 knockout and their littermate control mice.
