Thalassemia carrier screening in pregnant women based on targeted quantification of hemoglobin subunits by LC-MS/MS

ABSTRACT: This study developed a novel thalassemia carrier screening method for pregnant women using LC-MS/MS-based targeted quantification of seven hemoglobin subunits. A machine learning model was trained on 1,726 subjects, achieving an AUC > 0.95. This approach provides a robust and physiologically adaptive strategy that outperforms traditional hematological indices in the pregnant population.
